Cairo: Bahraini police arrested five people for violating privacy of the deceased after they had filmed a dead person and posted the footage online, a security official has said.

The five Asian nationals, aged from 26 to 46 years, had filmed an accident involving the death of an Asian migrant worker and circulated it on social media, the chief of the Southern Governorate added.

“The identities of those involved in the act were established and they were arrested,” the official said.

He added that legal procedures have been taken to refer the case to public prosecution.

The official did not mention circumstances of or the motive behind the act, which is banned in mostly Muslim Bahrain.
