How far would you go for love? A groom in Pakistan’s city of Karachi didn’t let the nationwide lockdown dampen his marriage plans. On Thursday, he came on a motorbike to take his newlywed wife. The video clip of the “unique” marriage ceremony is going viral.

Social media users are sharing Pakistan news channel ARY News’ video report, about the unnamed groom.

As per the report, the groom reached his in-law’s house along with two witnesses for marriage on motorbikes due to lockdown and social distancing orders amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The video shows the newlyweds on the motorbike, ready to leave after the Nikkah.

While most people congratulated the newlywed couple, one Facebook user commented: “It is good, they had a ceremony without pomp and crowd.”

According to local reports last month, nine members of a family were infected with the novel coronavirus after they attended a marriage ceremony in Karachi. The family had attended a marriage ceremony where a woman infected with COViD-19 was present.

As of today, Pakistan has 12,723 confirmed cases of COViD-19. Of these, 2,866 have recovered, and 269 have died.

On Friday, Pakistan extended a partial lockdown for two more weeks to contain the spread of the coronavirus in the country.

Pakistan Federal Minister Asad Umar, who heads the government body dealing with the COViD-19 crisis, has said that the restrictions on public movements would remain in place till May 9. He cited concerns about number of cases spiking in Pakistan in the coming weeks.
