Militant leader Mullah Omar has on Monday vowed more Taliban attacks against US forces in Afghanistan.

"The Taliban attacks in Afghanistan will further intensify this New Year, which will force Americans to leave Afghanistan very soon," he said in a message carried by the Pakistan-based news agency Afghan Islamic Press on Monday.

The statement comes a day after Afghan president Mohammad Karzai suggested Mullah Mohammad Omar ?get in touch? so that they could begin peace talks.

Karzai, 48, made a statement inviting all Afghans, "Taliban or non-Taliban,", including Omar to help rebuild the country.

"If he wants to come, he should get in touch with us.  But I don't think he will come. He has so much on his hands against Afghanistan. We don't even know as to where he is hiding," Karzai said. "He has to first give us an account as to what he's done."

Omar, who has a $10 million bounty on his head made no mention of Karzai in his statement but Mullah Obaidullah Akhund, a deputy of Omar, rejected the offer.

"Hamid Karzai, the American agent, has turned Afghanistan into an American base and has killed thousands of Afghans," he told reporters.
