Hyderabad: A middle-aged couple who had recovered from COVID-19 only two days ago, committed suicide while in quarantine at home.
The incident occurred on Sunday in Dharmavaram town of Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh.
According to the police, 42-year-old Phani Raj and 40-year-old Sreesha jumped from a three-storied building and died on the way to hospital.
Deputy Superintendent of police Ramakant said that the couple had tested positive for COVID-19 and were admitted to a local hospital. After recovering and leaving the hospital on July 30, they were in self-isolation at their home. On Sunday morning they jumped to their death.
“Our preliminary investigation showed that the couple was suffering from mental stress and financial difficulties and decided to end their lives,” Ramakant said.
