New Delhi: Barack Obama and his wife Michelle is presently the neighbours' envy and owner's pride.

The elegant couple is gracing the sprawling Chanakya Grand Presidential Suite (named after ancient India's most famous political strategist) located on the 14th floor of the hotel.

Five standard hotel rooms can fit into the space occupied by the presidential suite of the prestigious hotel, where no public bookings have been entertained for the last few days.

Panoramic view

The suite provides a panoramic view of the city's skyline and the adjacent green belt of the Ridge forest. The sanguine setting for living and working areas offer gracious hospitality and is a picture of dignity.

The Presidential suite, having bullet-proof panes includes, bedrooms, private dinning areas, meeting rooms, a modern hi-tech office with the latest gadgetry - fully loaded to take care of the work pressures of high profile guests.

It includes a gym, sauna and steam room and is a harmonious blend of the classical with modern conveniences in a quintessential Mauryan style. Each detail has been flawlessly orchestrated to offer the ultimate ambience of luxury and comfort for its important residents.

A spokesperson of the hotel informed, "The luxurious suite has a well-stocked library and a private dining room that can seat 12 people. An alchemy of colour harmoniously drawn from hues of saffron and shades of mauve to violet, runs through the entire place. From the silk and leather paneled walls to the classical furniture, every detail is meticulously groomed to create that perfect ambience.

"The warm and soft lighting enhances the beauty of the art d'objects, adding to the ethereal look. It has been decorated with traditional motifs and drapes in sync with the desire of the Obamas to have an authentic Indian experience."

The table at which three US Presidents (Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and George Bush) have earlier sat and written their notes is strategically placed at a distance away from the four-poster crystal-topped master bed. This carefully appointed suite is enjoyed as a bedroom unit, dotted with flowers to create organic and botanical punctuations of a delightful order.

"The shelves reflect the finest in Indian aesthetics and the interior of the suite has a contemporary, yet luxurious feel with wood finishes, exposed beams and cream-tinted walls," the official informed.

The flooring of the finest quality white Greek marble and a glittering amethyst bathroom wall studded with mother of pearl add touches of regalia to the entire setting.

The hotel chain is known for its spa, Kaya Kalp, which captures the spiritual and medicinal legacies of the Mughal dynasty. The staff at Kaya Kalp, has lined up massage oils, scrubs and pomegranate face packs for the Obamas. "The experience will make the guests feel relaxed," the spokesperson elaborated.

To ensure that the visiting dignitaries do not get contaminated food, the hotel has set up a microbiological laboratory. The staffers and chefs have kept the feedback book open at hotel's flagship eatery Bukhara, though the White House has also flown in its own chefs to prepare dishes for the presidential palate. A team of chefs would be preparing dishes for the couple in the kitchen, which is part of the presidential suite.
