The Ministry of Health has established a quality control department with the aim of providing quality services to the public.

Hessa Al Masood, Head of the Ministry's Quality and Development Department in Abu Dhabi, noted: "Activities aimed at improving quality at the Ministry started in 1997. Now the Ministry has set up this department and gathered all the activities under one specialised department to guarantee quality services to its customers.

"This department has now completed about one month. Setting it up was very important to improve and develop all the departments at the ministry. The quality of health services is important, and this department should have been established a long time ago.

"In this department, we are going to lay down specific guidelines under which we will function. These will decide on the type of the service as well as the ways in which we are going to deliver them."

She added: "Through this department, we will try to develop health services by finding out the causes of problems and the best ways to solve them. The main change will be in the way in which we deliver health services to the patients".
