Purple gold jewellery, recently introduced to the Middle East, could soon be made in Dubai if Prestige Gallery's owner gets his way. Already Prestige Gallery is acting as Middle East distributor of the world's first patented purple gold, but there are bigger plans.

"We are also looking at the possibility of setting up a state-of-the-art laboratory that is required for manufacturing purple gold jewellery," said Rajesh Gosalia, owner of Prestige Gallery.
Purple gold was discovered by a veteran Singapore metallurgist and endorsed by the World Gold Council this year.

Solid 19 carat purple gold is a combination of 80 per cent pure yellow gold and 20 per cent other precious metals achieved by heating at a temperature of 10,000 degrees celsius. The Gold and Diamond Park, a base for more than 100 gold and diamond manufacturers, will be the main distribution point in the Middle East for purple gold.

Sami Al Ansari, general manager of property management for Emaar Properties said, "Gold and Diamond Park is delighted to introduce this unique gold product to the Middle East." "This can only enhance Dubai's reputation as a major regional centre for gold and diamond jewellery offering world class infrastructure and facilities to our retail and manufacturing tenants."
