Abu Dhabi: Slaughterhouses across the capital are ready to meet the demand for slaughtering of animals during Eid Al Adha, the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City announced in a statement issued on Sunday.
About 8,000 animals are expected to be slaughtered across the four facilities in Abu Dhabi on the first day Eid alone, the municipality said.
The slaughterhouses will be operational from 6:3am to 7:30pm on the first day of Eid, and from 6am to 7:30pm on the remaining days.
The municipality also specified that cows will be slaughtered only in afternoon on the first day of Eid, while Al Wathba slaughterhouse has been designated for slaughtering camels.
Safety inspectors and veterinarians will be present at all slaughterhouses to ensure that only animals fit for human consumption are slaughtered. The authorities also called upon residents to refrain from slaughtering animals outside designated facilities in order to maintain public health and hygiene standards.
