Sharjah: His Highness Dr. Shaikh Sultan Bin Mohammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, ordered setting up a committee to calculate the losses suffered by Emiratis due to delays in compensation payment.

The committee will be tasked with compensating citizens for the delays. The committee's members will consist of parties from the Municipalities and Planning and Survey Department.

During a telephone call made to the Direct Line programme broadcasted by Sharjah Radio, Shaikh Sultan pointed out that these compensations are not "grants" and that they are a citizen's right. However, he added that citizens who suffered from delays in the payments will be compensated accordingly.

"We should not be thanked because there have been delays in the payment of these compensations to some parties, some of whom are needy and had their trade income suffer. We are working on quickly compensating these people for these losses," said Shaikh Sultan.

Shaikh Sultan also responded to a phone call made by an Emirati citizen, Saeed, who said that the Ruler of Sharjah's orders to allocate a commercial and residential plot has not been implemented, and that he has not received them even after his constant follow-up with the relevant parties for the past three years.

"We are receiving all applications and requests, and the compensations will be shortly given out simultaneously. It is not easy to allocate so many land plots, especially in densely populated areas. Due to this, it is not possible to give out any land plots in Dibba, and that's why the plots are now being given out in Sharjah," said Shaikh Sultan.

"This shortage can also happen in Khorfakkan, which is why we are now preparing the Al Harayid, a large open area which can accommodate a large number of residents. As for commercial plots, the Khorfakkan ring road will be able to accommodate many plot allocations for the city.

"The delay in these allocations is due to us being occupied with matters that concern the comfort of citizens on a daily basis. Every citizen will get what has been promised to them to ensure their satisfaction," he added.
