Dubai: Teachers play a very significant role in building and preparing generations in tune with diverse humanities and experience requirements of our time, said His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
“Teachers are doing so while maintaining our authentic cultural and Arab values, which we inherited through generations, making the UAE a symbol of concrete communication between the past, present and the future, he added.
Shaikh Mohammad made these remarks on Sunday during his surprise visit to the Ministry of Education schools on the first day of the new academic year to check on the educational progress across the country’s schools
Shaikh Mohammad began his tour by visiting the Al Maktoum Primary School for Boys, which is one of UAE’s modern schools in terms of premises and facilities. It has been built according to global specifications and can accommodate some 270 students from Grade 1 to 3.
Shaikh Mohammad was briefed by the principal Amina Al Suwaidi on various facilities available at the school including gymnasium, laboratory, outdoor playgrounds, Umm Emarat aquaculture project and the heritage village.
Shaikh Mohammad underlined the essential role played by schools in spreading knowledge and being key to the development and progress of nations. He affirmed the importance of collaboration between schools and parents to help students get the best out of their educational curricula and knowledge needed to reach the highest levels of innovation across various sectors.
A new curriculum has been introduced across all public schools in the country which will see more emphasis on science and English subjects.
Shaikh Mohammad also visited Jumeirah Model Girls School and inspected some of the classes for pupils with determination.
Shaikh Mohammad congratulated students on the beginning of the new academic year and wished them all the success in their educational progress. He also congratulated teachers, calling on them to make every possible effort to prepare a generation able to keep up with the requirements and developments of the present time.
While talking to Jameela Salem Al Muhairi, Minister of State for Public Education, who accompanied him throughout his tour, Shaikh Mohammad stressed the importance of building a true intellectually, educationally, culturally and morally aware generations for the future and creating a conducive environment for such values by equipping students with knowledge, morals, the love of nation and serving the community.
“Homes and schools alike are playing an integrated role in this regard and everyone should actively cooperate to achieve the national goals aiming to bring about the sustainable development whose solid foundations are built on well-educated human capital, Shaikh Mohammad said.
Shaikh Mohammad was accompanied by Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman, Director general of Dubai Protocol and Hospitality Department, and Ghia Al Muhairi, Director of Dubai Educational Zone as well as a number of top executives at Dubai Education Sector.
