Dubai: Hussain Nasser Lootah, director-general of Dubai Municipality, on Sunday opened the Innovation Week exhibition and events in the municipality, which will last until Thursday with the participation of its various organisational units.
“With this, Dubai Municipality also joins other government departments in the country in the efforts to spread the culture of innovation to upgrade the work system and the initiatives aimed at improving the quality of government systems and services, and to stay in the competitive race through new ideas with a renewed management and leadership ready for change using different ways and tools,” said Lootah.
He said the Innovation Week is a key pillar in advancing economic development and strengthening the position of the UAE as a global hub for innovation, capacity building and the dissemination of innovation culture at the state level. “The Innovation Week aims its activities to focus primarily on community development and to achieve Vision 2021. Innovation is part of the culture of the UAE and its founders, and we hope that future generations will continue on this method in various sectors and levels. This is aimed at all age groups and we want to ensure Dubai is a forerunner in innovation,” said Lootah.
He praised the prominent role played by the municipality in promoting the concept of innovation and creativity among different segments of the society. He was speaking while touring the exhibition on the Dubai Municipality premises in the presence of assistant directors-general and directors of various departments and a number of other officials. The exhibition showcases 16 creative innovations of the municipality.
Mohamed Ahmad Al Louz, head of the Innovation and Suggestions Care Section and the acting director of Knowledge Management Department, said Dubai Municipality has ensured that the Innovation Week includes all innovations of the municipality this year. Hence, the exhibition showcases the municipality’s most important smart applications and technological solutions that save time and efforts of customers.
