Dubai's first bridge linking two buildings will soon be completed. The bridge will connect two buildings of the Marriot Executive Apartments in the Clock Tower area.

The process of shifting the bridge to the site was earlier postponed the week before it was due to start. This was due to security procedures and other unforeseen difficulties.

Captain Abdullah Yousuf Al Ali, Head of the Engineering and Traffic Section at the Dubai Police Traffic Department, explained that transporting the bridge, which will take three days, required strict security measures.

He indicated that the transportation of the bridge to the site had started from the Industrial Area Bridge last Sunday.

Captain Abdullah warned drivers to take care when they drive past vehicles carrying parts of the bridge, saying that the first part, which is now being transported, is 27 metres long, five and a half wide, and six metres high on the vehicles.

Vehicles carrying these parts are moving at a very slow speed, and will take up two lanes. For this reason they are moving by night, when traffic is relatively low.

The second part of the bridge will be transported in the same manner two weeks after this phase is completed.
