In cooperation with General Motors and the manufacturer, Horton of the U.S., Abu Dhabi police ambulance and rescue section has launched a long-term programme designed to improve, upgrade and standardise its emergency medical services and rescue operations.
The programme includes training and acquiring skilled and professional staff of emergency medical services and rescue operations "that are not available in any such organisation in the Middle East," the statement said.
It said those technicians, paramedics and rescue operators will fully possess and support the immobilisation, cervical spine handling techniques, body strapping skills and rescue operations to be able to provide accident victims with a better chance of survival until they arrive at a medical facility.
General Motors is the major supplier of the chassis used for the vehicle, which is a combination of an ambulance and rescue facility. Horton designs and mounts the body of the vehicle by incorporating many important other features, the statement said.
