Global adventurer Pavel Trcala has done it again. His birthday celebrations saw him snow and surf in the same day completing his 10th annual party challenge.
Where the majority of us celebrate the day we were born by singing happy birthday around a table of friends, Pavel took to the slopes and surf of Dubai ? all in 12 hours.
Every year, the 27-year-old picks a destination somewhere in the world where he can ski and surf in the same day.
Countries already conquered include Chile, Norway, New Zealand and Alaska and now Dubai.
Pavel chose the UAE to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the challenge, along with his 28th birthday.
He said: "I can't believe I have been able to complete my challenge in a country I never imagined it would ever be possible.
"When I heard I could ski and surf in Dubai I was overwhelmed. I couldn't believe I would be able do my annual birthday challenge in one of the hottest countries in the world.
"I am very excited and pleased that this year has been such a unique attempt.
"Skiing at Ski Dubai was great fun. But then to hit the water and it being warm was even better. I love Dubai and have felt very welcome here."
Pavel is a competitor for the Czech Mushow Kite Team and has recently participated in kitesurfing competitions throughout Australia.
He was invited to the region by the Ministry for Sport Affairs of Oman to promote kitesurfing in the country.
Global adventurer
He said: "I would describe myself as a global adventurer and participate in expeditions around the world. I also compete in skiing and every year I attempt to ski and surf on the same day. I have performed this quest in places with mountains and ocean in nearby proximity but never as close as in Dubai.
"It was great to leave Ski Dubai after a session in the morning and get to the beach by the afternoon, with time for lunch in between!"Dubai has it all and I am very envious of the people who live here."
Last year, Pavel became the fifth and youngest Czech in history to climb Mount Everest.
But the record breaking didn't stop there. He was also the first in the world to snow kite and kite surf on Mount Everest.
Pavel said: "It was an amazing feeling to launch a kite 4,000m up on the highest mountain in the world.
"I literally felt on top of the world."
The attempt took place on Monday, from 10am at Ski Dubai where Pavel donned ski boots and showed the crowds just what he is capable of on the snow.
The adventurer then travelled to Kite Beach, located directly behind the former Woolongong University site, and hit the water with his kite.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dubai Municipality for its support along with the Dubai Kite Club and everyone at Al Boom Marine who have all helped make this challenge possible.
"Happy birthday, me."
