Dubai: A new Arabic-language television channel aimed at male Arab viewers will launch on free-to-air television this year.
Image Nation is partnering with Discovery Communications, a pay television programmer, to launch the channel ‘Quest Arabiya’ in the final quarter of 2015, according to an emailed statement on Tuesday.
“The channel, whose focus is male-oriented factual and reality programmes, will be a combination of regionally-produced original material and Arabised content from Discovery’s vast library of non-fiction shows.”
“Aimed primarily at Arab men aged 16-44, but with material that will appeal to the entire family, key programming genres will include adventure and survival, motoring, engineering, wildlife, history and people and places.”
Quest Arabiya will be broadcasted 24 hours a day and be headed up by Carl von Doussa, who is general manager of Channels at Image Nation and brings over 19 years of television and digital markets experience in Europe and the Middle East. The programming executive is Eeman Al Ansari and the project manager is Khalid Khouri.
