I was very excited about today following yesterday’s special day at the Aramcao Ladies Saudi International.
Perhaps I was just too excited?
I felt out of the sync and rhythm I had over the past few days, from the first tee shot and quickly dropped two shots in my first four holes.
Was it my golf, the players I was playing with, the occasion, the crowds and the tournament buzz or the live TV cameras, photographers and media interest?
Perhaps a bit of everything?
The good news and positive takeaway was that the last few holes were great, a down-in-two on 15 for a par, and a three, three, four finish against a par of three, four, five.
I have only once played in the last group of a tournament after a cut, and this was on the LET Access Tour. This was a totally different experience at a different level with world-class players in my group.
It was fun chatting among the group and, remarkably, chatting with Georgia Hall during the round, I found out that we were born on the same day, April 12, 1996.
I was determined to enjoy the experience in the group and stay on my game plan.
What impressed me most was that Georgia was so very steady with her attitude and emotions throughout her round; you would never have known if she had made a birdie or a bogey on any hole, a three putt or a chip-in. This is what I am working on, but I not there yet.
I have been overwhelmed with the online conversations and phone calls from all my family and especially friends in Dubai over the last couple of days.
It has been really nice. But at 10pm last night I had to switch off my phone, as it was exploding with calls, affecting me a bit and I was getting tired.
Yesterday was a real high and today was more of a hard work day.
My putting was not my best today but as everyone says, it is always tough to follow a career round.
It has been a huge learning week for me so far, I cannot wait to speak to my mental coach post event, to talk through what I did well and what perhaps needs working on.
I am really looking forward to tomorrow and the final round and get back onto the golf course.
