Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Police have detained three youngsters who were found driving a vehicle with fake number plate and had caused road accidents, the police said on Tuesday.

The operation was carried out in cooperation with Dubai Police.

They also drove vehicles recklessly and tried to escape from Dubai towards Abu Dhabi to avoid getting caught.

The police have referred the case to prosecution to take further legal action.

The police statement said these youngsters were extremely dangerous to other road users and caused accidents.

They were chased by Abu Dhabi Police patrols and were stopped then detained in Seih Al Sidra area on Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Road.

Brigadier Salem Barak Al Daheri, Director of the Traffic Department of the Traffic and Patrols Department said an urgent plan was put in place to deal with the situation immediately after the department received the information.

He said Abu Dhabi Police patrols chased the reckless youngsters and surrounded them. That’s how they were arrested on the Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Road.

Al Daheri called on people to supervise their children and prevent them from committing such crimes that affect their future.

He urged them to abide by the traffic rules and do not falsify or blur the vehicle number plate to evade traffic penalties and offences.
