Dubai: Rock talents from southern Philippines will headline the “BisRock” concert at the Dubai World Trade Centre on February 17. The event will be the biggest gathering in Dubai of Cebuano rock artists.

Young bands performing at the event are Urbandub, True Faith and Cueshe, while they will be joined by Budoy, the renowned original Cebuano reggae music mover, songwriter and TV host.

Cebuano refers to the people who speak the eponymous language, which is spoken widely in southern Philippines.

The show will also feature performances by Filipino artists Frenchie Dy, the Star In A Million Grand Champion known as the Philippines’ “Soul Diva”; Pepe Smith, the iconic rocker who was a member of the influential Juan dela Cruz band that revolutionised the Philippine rock scene in the 70s.

True Faith has emerged as one of the Philippine's most popular and accomplished bands since it was formed in 1992. The band performs new wave sounds, Filipino pop songs and now embraces middle of the road music including pop rock.

Cueshe, which originally started in Cebu City, hit it big shortly after moving to Manila in 2005 with hit singles such as Stay, Sorry, Ulan, Can’t Let You Go and 24 Hours. The band's debut album “Half Empty, Half Full” achieved double platinum album.

Urbandub is the first indie band that has released albums nationwide. The band has the unique and heaviest compilation of Pinoy rock music entitled Full Volume with a remake of Sade’s No Ordinary Love. Urbandub also has a strong fan base throughout Southeast Asia with a recent tour in Singapore.
