Jaguar, a sports and sedan car marque, has reported an 87 per cent increase in sales in the Middle East and North Africa in March compared with February, a company statement said.

Jaguar's sales increased by 204 per cent in Saudi Arabia and 86 per cent in the UAE, while it doubled in Kuwait, it said.

Jaguar's first-quarter sales increased 61 per cent in Saudi Arabia, 10 per cent in Kuwait and 7 per cent in Qatar compared with the same period last year.

The design, performance and technology of Jaguar cars have been rewarded with higher sales, the statement said. The sales growth is indicative of a growing level of recognition across the region of Jaguar's style, luxury and performance.

"We operate in a market that is growing at a phenomenal rate and witnessing fierce competition," said Andy Gawthorpe, managing director of Jaguar Middle East and North Africa.

Jaguar had an excellent start this year, and the company's future in the region remains bright and exciting, Gawthorpe said.

The company revised its business plans last year to consolidate resources to help reshape the company.
