We all have our personal lists of the zaniest, quirkiest, funniest, craziest, smartest. We devote this page to them. This week, Claire Townsend lists her top ten must-see events in Dubai.

Stomp

They are a group of talented percussionists who make music from bins, brooms, road signs, etc. They have staged shows all over the world and are probably well known for their Pepsi Cola advert. Actually, I went to school with Luke Cresswell, the founder of the group.

CATS

A large musical production such as CATS would be a welcome addition to the theatre and ballet we are starting to get here. I would like my daughters to see such a show without the hassle of taking them to London or Broadway.

Cirque du Soleil

I watched the Cirque du Soleil show in Disney World a few years ago and would like to see it in Dubai again. We had a similar circus here but Cirque du Soleil is extra special because it emphasises the use of humans as performers and does not use animals.

U2

I would queue all night for tickets for a U2 show. I've been fortunate to see all my music "heroes" except for U2. Bring them here, please.

A Glenn Miller revival band

I love to dress up and go for a dance. Bring on a Glenn Miller revival band and make a 1940/1950s dinner dance where we can dress accordingly.

Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen Home Show

My company participated in the Emirates Home Show and The Gulf News Ideal Home Show. However, I'd love to see a Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen Home Show here. As a designer and a personality, I think he's fantastic. I would love to work with him.

Formula One

I would love to watch Formula One in Dubai, as my dad and brother are fans.

'Use seatbelt' campaign

We could have an event to launch a countrywide campaign on the importance of wearing seatbelts in cars. Although not strictly an international event, it could be publicised through the media, schools and notice boards in shopping malls and help save lives.

Awareness forum on treatment of animals

There should be international guidelines that all countries should adhere to or face hefty fines or closure if they are not followed.

Robbie Williams

I was lucky to get tickets for his show held at Nad Al Sheba in April. I was right in front with my family and it was worth every dirham. I wish he could come and entertain Dubaiites again. Robbie Williams Live at Knebworth and Albert Hall Swing Sessions are among my most watched DVDs.
