Dubai: The emirate of Dubai could be compared to a number of cities around the world, and now, its being compared to the multi-billion dollar enterprise Google. 

Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, took to social media on Tuesday to share photos of his meeting with Sergey Brin, the co-founder of Google and president of Google’s parent company, Alphabet Inc. 

In a series of tweets, Shaikh Hamdan explained how the history behind Google is similar to that of Dubai’s. 

Shaikh Hamdan, said: “Sergey and his friend Larry Page founded Google from a dorm room and today the company is worth over $600 billion. Their goal is to organize the world’s knowledge and make it available for all.”

“Sergey and Larry’s inspiring story is similar to Dubai’s story – We both share a desire to build the future. They created the future of knowledge; we  created a model city for the future of urbanism,” added Shaikh Hamdan.

Shaikh Hamdan, said: "We seek to establish Dubai as the world's largest laboratory for future technology. Dubai has made great strides in its approach towards the future thanks to the vision of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.”

He pointed out that Shaikh Mohammad had earlier realised the importance of building a society based on knowledge economy and investing in science and linking development with advanced technologies.

During the meeting, Brin also met with Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and the Future.

Shaikh Hamdan urged Arab youths to learn from Brin and Page’s leading experience and be inspired by their innovative work and exceptional success story. “We urge Arab youths to learn from the story of finding Google in making stories of success.”
