A romcom that looks upon life’s emotional highs and lows with a pinch of humour will be staged in Dubai at thejamjar on two weekends this May.

Fading Brightness, by performing arts company Loom Ensemble, is being called a post-modern dance theatre demonstration that looks at life, death and heartbreak through the eyes of its protagonist Izzy.

Showcasing participants from the group’s training workshops and contemporary dance classes, Fading Brightness is the culmination of Loom’s fourth annual residency at thejamjar.

“It’s been amazing to witness,” says Loom co-founder Raphael Sacks. “The blossoming of contemporary art culture in Dubai. Even just since 2012 when we first started working with thejamjar, UAE has shown just how much excellent potential there is for a fully homegrown, grassroots professional dance and theatre community right here in Dubai.”

Performances will be held from May 3-5 and May 10-12 at 8pm. Tickets are priced at Dh75.
