Legendary actress Nora Aunor did not make it to this year’s list of the coveted National Artist awardees.
Prior to the announcement last week, there was a buzz that Aunor would finally be given the National Artist for Film award, on account of her many contributions to the film industry and her sterling record as a performer.
To be named a National Artist is a big honour, and has many benefits.
This year’s awardees include Alice Reyes for Dance; Francisco V. Coching (posthumously awarded) for Visual Arts; Cirilo Bautista for Literature; Francisco F. Feliciano and Ramon Santos for Music; and Jose Maria V. Zaragoza (also posthumously recognised) for Architecture.
Aunor has not released a statement on the snub.
