Shah Rukh Khan shocked party-goers at Sanjay Dutt's party for Agneepath at Aurus nightclub in Mumbai, last week, when eyewitnesses claim he walked up to director, Shirish Kunder, and started punching him until Dutt dragged his pal away.
And sources claim the Ra.One star was "inebriated" when he rocked up at the club at 4.30am, following the Filmfare awards, and made a beeline for Kunder along with three bodyguards.
"We didn't know what was going on," spilled a party-goer. "We saw SRK enter. Then we saw him head towards Shirish from behind and pull him down to the ground by his hair." Adding, "We were all shocked." Whilst another confided, "We have never seen SRK behave this way before."
And after the star told club owner, Baba Dewan, to back off, after he attempted to pull the star away, it was left up to Sanjay Dutt to step in and split the pair, leaving the actor accused of having hit Shirish too - something he denies, insisting, "I didn't join in the fight. I sorted out the fight."
Priyanka diss, Ra.One swipe or Farah feud to blame?
Insiders immediately began whispering that SRK had attacked Kunder because of comments the director had made about Shah Rukh's superhero blockbuster, Ra.One, after it was released, with others insisting Kunder had made nasty remarks about Agneepath's Priyanka Chopra.
"Kunder didn't say anything about Priyanka," insisted a friend of the filmmaker. "Why would he? Everyone was there to celebrate a success, not to create ugliness."
But insiders have insisted that the real cause was down to SRK's relationship with Shirish's director and choreographer wife, Farah Khan, with the once close pals having fallen out after Farah reneged on her promise to "never work without SRK".
"Shah Rukh has always told me that physical abuse is the worst way to sort out a problem, and that it means the person who's hitting has either a personal or professional crisis going on," said Farah, who was at a night-shoot for Bela Sehgal's Shirin Farhad Ki Nikal Padi, during the attack. "It saddens me to see him doing the same."
Wife, Gauri, steps in
In a bid to end the bitter feud that ended in the shocking fight, SRK's wife, Gauri, and Shirish's brother-in-law, Sajid Khan, joined forces last week to bring the warring parties together.
Meeting up for dinner at SRK's sumptuous home, Mannat, Sajid spilled that the "ugly affair" was sorted out, with Farah speaking out about her "relief" that the feud was now over.
"I can't begin to tell you how relieved I am. This had turned really ugly," revealed the Om Shanti Om director. "Full credit to Gauri for making the reconciliation happen. When my brother asked her where we should meet she said Mannat, because she said it's Farah's home. I am so moved." And Bollywood sources have spilled that the Khans could soon work together again, after Farah insisted, "I really liked what he said. [We'll] start afresh."
