Veteran crooner Asha Bhosle expressed her gratitude towards her fans for their continuous love and support and credited them for her successful career as she turned 81 on Monday.
Bhosle, who has been singing for past six decades, requested her fans to keep her company on her musical journey.
“Thank you for kind greetings. Without your support I wouldn’t have achieved my goals. Walk a bit longer with me & we’ll find the perfect note,” Bhosle posted on Twitter.
The singer, who began her playback singing career in the shadow of her elder sister Lata Mangeshkar in the late forties, has collaborated with music directors such as OP Nayyar, Sachin Dev Burman, RD Burman, Khayyam and Bappi Lahiri.
She gave Hindi cinema some of its most memorable songs including Jhumka Gira Re, Raat Akeli Hain, Aaja Aaja, Dum Maro Dum, Dil Cheez Kya Hain, among others.
The singer has also worked with younger music directors like AR Rahman and Anu Malek in the nineties for films like Baaazigar, Rangeela and Taal.
Bollywood celebrities like Shatrughan Sinha, Dia Mirza, singer Sona Mahapatra wished Bhosle on her birthday.
“Birthday greetings to the legendary singer Asha Bhosleji,” Sinha posted.
Dia added, “I shot my first music video for your song Memories of Paris, laughter and your love. Happy Birthday! Thank you.”
