Dubai: Farhan Akhtar and Deepika Padukone's latest thriller, Karthik Calling Karthik, may be shrouded in mystery but up close the Bollywood stars are like an open book.
In Dubai yesterday for the world premiere of the film, Deepika was delighted when she was handed a copy of Tuesday's tabloid! that featured an interview with her.
"This is what I was asking for in the morning. Somehow, I couldn't find this page," said Deepika.
Meanwhile, director-turned-actor Akhtar had some fun by reading some of Deepika's quotes out loud.
"Did I actually talk about my baby fat? Really!" said Deepika in mock-despair. Their light-hearted banter took a serious turn as they discussed their roles in the film.
"I play an introvert in the film, and it was a challenge to unfold my character slowly and with subtlety," said Akhtar.
Excited
Deepika was excited at being in a content-driven film.
"What got me hooked onto Karthik Calling Karthik was its script. I remember that even during the initial script narration I did not want to take a single break or interval," Deepika told Gulf News.
The film is a tale of an introvert whose life changes after he receives a phone call.
