Dubai: Forbes Middle East has revealed the 2016 rankings of top Indians in the world of business and in executive management in the Arab region.

With a combined net worth of more than $20 billion, at least ten UAE-based business leaders from India dominated the magazine’s top 100 Indian entrepreneurs category.

Many of the leading entrepreneurs are billionaires and founders of huge businesses in the country that range from retail, education to health care and real estate. Some of them run family-owned organisations that have been in the region for several decades.

Leading this year’s top businessmen is Sunil Vaswani, group chairman of the Stallion Group, with a net worth of $2 billion, followed by Yusuf Ali M.A. managing director of LuLu Group International, with a net worth of $4.2 billion.

Third on the list is Mukesh Jagtiani, chairman of Landmark Group, with a net worth of $4.4 billion, followed by Dr. B.R. Shetty, founder of NMC Hospitals and UAE Exchange, with $1.8 billion, and Sunny Varkey, chairman of GEMS Education, with $1.9 billion in net worth.

Rounding up the top ten are P.N.C. Menon, chairman of Sobha Group ($1.5 billion); Dr. Azad Moopen, chairman of DM Group ($1.5 billion); Rajen Kilachand, chairman of Dosal Group; B. Ravi Pillai, chairman and managing director or RP Group ($2.9 billion) and Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil Parambath, managing director of VPS Healthcare

The ranking of 100 entrepreneurs was drawn up from a list of 250 names. The selection was based not solely on the net worth or revenues of the businessmen, but also on the number of staff they employ, age of their company and visibility or their organisation.

Among the top 50 Indian in the executive management category, the number one position went to UAE-based Sanjeev Chadha, PepsiCo CEO for Asia, Middle East and North Africa.

The rest of the top ten were Mr. Sanjiv Kakkar, executive vice president for Mena, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus at Unilever, also based in the UAE; Raghavan Seetharaman, group CEO at Doha Bank; Sanjay Manchanda, CEO of Nakheel; Adnan Chilwan, Group CEO at Dubai Islamic Bank; Raghu Malhotra, president- Middle East and Africa for MasterCard; Amit Jain, Group COO discharging duties of CEO at Emaar Properties; Vijay Malhotra, chairman and CEO- UAE and Oman at KPMG Lower Gulf; Vishesh Bhatia, CEO at Jumbo Electronics Co. and Tariq Chauhan, Group CEO at EFS Facilities Services Group.

The executives were ranked based on their experience, geographical reach, number of employees they manage and position they hold.

The Indian trailblazers were honoured at an exclusive award ceremony Tuesday night.
