The Specialized Rehabilitation Hospital (SRH) Abu Dhabi, recently received the Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) – a leading non-profit organization in the field of patient safety based in the United States – making it the region's first specialized rehabilitation and long-term care service hospital to receive this accreditation.

Capital Health Group's Specialized Rehabilitation Hospital is a pioneering step in the field of rehabilitation and long-term medical care for patients after acute injuries, as well as rehabilitation and weaning programs from ventilators in the UAE. The Hospital was founded in collaboration with The Shirley Ryan Ability Lab (previously known as the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago) and has established itself as the leading treatment destination in the capital in line with the goals of Abu Dhabi Vision 2030.

Dr Mishal Al Kasimi, CEO of SRH Abu Dhabi and Capital Health Group, commented on the international accreditation, saying, "We are pleased to receive the JCIA, as the JCI works with healthcare organizations from more than 100 countries."

Kasimi added that the accreditation will allow us to provide the best healthcare possible in accordance with global standards. The JCI has a trained team and international accreditors working on five continents around the world to create a world where every patient receives the highest quality of health care and benefits from the most recent global ideas in patient safety and quality improvement.

It is worth noting that the SRH underwent a comprehensive and accurate survey by the JCI prior to obtaining the accreditation with regards to the quality of the hospital and health care, as well as providing the best services to patients in an innovative manner.

Once the international accreditation is obtained, hospitals must be ensured to continue to provide the highest level of healthcare through periodic re-surveys by the independent commission whose global experts regularly assist hospitals in their pursuit of quality goals and patient care outcomes and continuously improve the safety and quality of health care by providing continuing education, advisory services and international certifications.

The SRH is distinguished for providing internationally accredited long-term care and rehabilitation services in the United Arab Emirates and the Middle East region, employing the most advanced medical rehabilitation treatment techniques in the world, as well as employing various technologies and competencies to serve patients. Medical rehabilitation is concerned with restoring the body's normal functions and capabilities lost due to injuries such as stroke, brain and spinal cord injury, respiratory failure, complications of cancer, amputations, chronic diseases, and birth defects.

The international accreditation also aligns with the Group's management, which considered establishing an integrated and advanced rehabilitation hospital years ago in order to provide the best rehabilitation services to patients in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Kasimi praised the constructive cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Department of Health, driven by the interest in the private medical sector, which is complementary to the government medical sector and a partner in providing advanced health services to patients.

The JCIA accreditation of the SRH Abu Dhabi is an international recognition of the hospital's health services and rehabilitation care, as well as an objective assessment of quality, patient care, and safety.
