Cairo: Saudi authorities have warned against employing non-accredited engineers, vowing heavy penalties against offenders including a SR1 million fine, local newspapers reported.

Public prosecution said it is illegal to employ engineers who are not professionally licenced or present incorrect data for their accreditation.

“Likewise, it is prohibited to use a method of publicity that gives the belief that the advertiser is entitled to do an engineering job without obtaining the necessary professional licensing or accreditation,” the prosecution said, according to news website Sabq.

The prosecution added that it investigates such misconduct.

“Any misleading behaviour in this regard is banned,” it added.

Such unlawful acts are punishable by one year in prison and a maximum fine of SR1 million or one of both penalties, according to the prosecution.
