Dubai: A set of decisions put forward by the Saudi Health Council (SHC), were approved by Saudi Arabia’s King Salman, including the adoption of national plan to develop quality and patient safety in health sectors, according to the Daily Okaz Newspaper.

A unified contact number ‘2222’ for emergency CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) cases all over the Saudi Arabia has been approved.

As per the plan, the quality and patient safety in health sectors will be developed in line with the goals of the National Transformation Plan 2020 through a tight health system that gives top priority to patients, said the Secretary-General of the Council, Nahar Al Azmi.

The plain aims to implement the principles of quality management and patient safety in health sectors all over the Kingdom, spread a culture of quality within health care institutions and involve them in developing and embracing this culture.

All centers treating acute leukemia in all health sectors into a referral program named “Ihalati” program and medical coordination in those sectors to facilitate admission and opening a file. This shall be implemented by Health Ministry for patients to specialized centers in hospitals where treatment of such cases is available.

The decision also included activating reverse referral from specialized centers to hospitals especially for advanced cases that need palliative treatment only. The National Cancer center in the SHC must prepare and present a report on the extent of implementation of decision within 3 months from the date of its approval.
