Abu Dhabi: 181 out of 300,357 Saudi government employees are as young as 19 years old and 65 are aged over 85 years, official statistics showed.
A recent report by the Saudi General Organisation for Social Insurance revealed that the total number of employees in the government sector, between the ages of 15-19 years, reached 181, of whom 154 are men and 27 are women, compared to 50,758 employees working in the private sector.
The report, obtained by Okaz newspaper, showed the number of government workers between the ages of 20-24 years reached 7,269, of whom 5,548 are men, and 1,721 are women.
The report indicated that there are 65 employees over the age of 85 working in the government sector, of whom 42 are men and 23 women, while the number of workers in the private sector in the same age group reached 3,241 of whom, 3,125 are men, and 116 are women.
The number of employees between the ages of 80 to 84 years is 52, of whom 40 are men and 12 women, compared to 4,152 employees in the private sector in the same age group.
The total number of government employees reached 300,357, of whom 227,882 or 75.87 per cent are men, while the percentage of women was 24.13 per cent, holding 72,475 jobs.
Regarding the average wage for Saudi government employees, the report said the average wage is 11,754 riyals, while the average wage for Saudis working in the private sector is 6,456 riyals, and overall, the average wage for Saudis working in the government and private sector is 7,146 riyals.
