Dubai: Dubai: UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Mohammad Gargash has said that the Qatari-Iranian nexus was no longer hidden.
Communication between Qatar and Iran is at an all-time high, and the two countries are in agreement when it comes to proposals and views, tweeted Dr Gargash quoting Iran’s Mehr News Agency.
“These relations were usually maintained in secrecy, and now it has become public. It is an opportunistic approach — supporting [Al] Houthis and other stances — and it perhaps does not reflect the opinions of the Qatari people,” Dr Gargash tweeted.
“I cannot imagine that Qataris are happy with their government’s support for Al Houthis, or the fact that their country has close relations with Tehran. Previously, they were not happy with Qatar’s normalisation of relations with Israel, or their country’s relations with Hezbollah. The hidden political agenda of Qatar’s leadership is what resulted in the country isolating itself from its surroundings,” he added.
