Dubai: Oman on Thursday banned the entry of passengers from nine more countries and extended the ban on 14 countries until further notice, bringing the total number of countries on the Red List to 23, state news agency ONA said.
As per the decision, which was taken by the Sultanate’s Supreme Committee to tackle COVID-19 and the Civil Aviation Authority, Singapore, Indonesia, Iraq, Iran, Tunisia, Libya, Argentina, Colombia, and Brunei have been added to the Red List. The ban will take effect from July 9 until further notice.
The committee and aviation authority extended the travel ban on 14 countries, including Sudan, Brazil, Nigeria, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, the United Kingdom, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. Passengers who passed through the Red List countries in the past 14 days are banned from entering the Sultanate. Egypt has been removed from the Red List.
Omani citizens, diplomats, health workers and their families are excluded. Arrivals to the Sultanate will be subject to the COVID-19 rules applicable to those entering the Sultanate.
The current one-week institutional quarantine continues for expatriates arriving in Oman, while Omanis must undergo a compulsory home quarantine. The quarantine rule is applicable for everyone including the vaccinated.
On arrival to Oman, passengers must undergo a mandatory PCR test and another one at the end of the quarantine period.
On Tuesday, Oman announced the extension of an 11-hour night lockdown, from 5pm to 4am, until July 31, and imposed a complete closure during Eid Al Adha holidays. Commercial activities will be closed during the lockdown period.
