Manama: Kuwait has recalled its ambassador to Bhutan after he allegedly failed to adhere to the country's policy and called for withdrawing the Peninsula Shield forces from Bahrain, a Kuwaiti news portal said.
According to Al Aan site, Nameer Kadhem Al Quraine is to be probed by the Kuwaiti foreign ministry for calling upon the international community to "save the Bahraini people from the Peninsula Shield forces".
The ambassador reportedly used his Facebook account to make the call and to urge for the use of an anti-Peninsula Shield logo.
His stance is in violation of the official Kuwait foreign policy, the online site said on Saturday evening.
Forces from the Peninsula Shield, the military arm of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), entered Bahrain in March following an invitation from Bahrain under a GCC mutual defense agreement.
Kuwait is contributing naval units to the Peninsula Shield.
Al Quraine, the first resident ambassador of Kuwait to Bhutan, presented his credentials in December 2010.
Kuwaiti MP Mohammad Al Hayef said that he would take up the case of the ambassador with the foreign minister.
"I will ask the minister about the administrative measures taken against ambassadors or diplomatic missions that do not adopt the official foreign policy line," he said.
