Kuwait City: In a statement, the Ministry of Health announced that private clinics and health centers will be able to start administering the COVID-19 vaccine.

Those looking to administer the vaccine will need to purchase it from a local agent or company and will need to obtain permission from the Ministry of Health.

According to the statement, the Ministry of Health stressed that in order for a hospital or health center to receive a vaccination license they will need to be separate and stand-alone, therefore not being connected to another facility.

In terms of transportation and storage, the Ministry of Health pointed out that the hospital or health clinic will adhere to the standards put in place by them. In addition, the administrators will be responsible for sending out messages to all patients regarding their appointments.

Enough vaccines

It is unclear when the Ministry will begin handing out licenses but it is all contingent on Kuwait receiving enough vaccines from international manufacturers.

So far, a total of 550,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine arrived in Kuwait in the past two months, with 150,000 in the first shipment and 100,000 in every other shipment following, a source told Al Jarida.

As for the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine, Kuwait has received one shipment which contained around 200,000 doses. A second shipment is expected to arrive during the first week of March with around 400,000 doses.
