Cairo: Bahraini King Hamad Bin Isa Wednesday said that his country will soon initiate a campaign for vaccination against COVID-19.
“Bahrain will start soon implementing its national campaign to provide safe and licenced vaccination against the novel coronavirus, the monarch said, according to the Bahraini news agency BNA.
He added that the vaccine will be optional and provided for free for all citizens and foreign residents in the country, who wish to receive it.
“We deeply hope that we are set for the return of life to normal and even better than it was if God wills,” the king said in an address marking the foundation of modern Bahrain.
Earlier this week, Bahrain’s National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) announced approving the registration of a vaccine against COVID-19 developed by the Chinese pharmaceutical giant Sinopharm.
Earlier this month, Bahrain became the second country in the world after the UK granting an emergency use authorisation for the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine against COVID-19.
Bahrain’s plan aims at vaccinating 5,000 people per day, to be maximised to 10,000.
