Cairo: Bahrain has said it will reopen gyms, outdoor playgrounds and swimming pools next month as part of a plan for gradual return to normal life amid precautions to stem the spread of the new coronavirus.
A state coordination committee led by Crown Prince Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa said that those facilities will reopen starting from August 6.
The step comes upon recommendations from a national medical task team on COVID-19. Health measures to be observed during their reoperation will be announced later.
Bahrain so far has recorded 37,996 coronavirus cases and 136 related fatalities.
The Bahraini national team for confronting COVID-19 has urged people to continue abiding by precautions against the highly infectious disease and shun mass gatherings during the upcoming Eid Al Adha feast. The team particularly advised against exchange of visits, mainly among families, during the Eid holiday and to make do with greetings via social media.
The team also reminded the public of the high infection incidence recorded in the kingdom following Eid Al Fitr, celebrated in May, and blamed this on failure to observe precautions against COVID-19.
