Dubai: Bahrain on Monday announced 81 new confirmed cases of coronavirus infection, raising to 2,891 the total number of infections in the country.

The new cases include Bahraini and expatriate residents, who had been in contact with previously confirmed cases, the Ministry of Health announced on its official Twitter account.

The ministry said that 76 expatriate labourers are among the new detected cases, while 13 got infected with the virus after they were in direct contact with existing patients, and one infection is linked to travel.

The ministry also announced that 19 infected patients have fully recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,737. The Kingdom has reported no new deaths from the virus, with the death toll standing at 8.

The ministry said that 1,718 patients are stable and still receiving treatment while one patient is critical and in intensive care unit.
