Manila: An Indian man faces deportation from the Philippines for allegedly presenting falsified documents when he tried to apply for a resident's visa.

Immigration Commissioner Ricardo David identified the suspect as Ajay Kumar Kashyap, who was arrested on October 27 in his house in Cavite province.

Immigration authorities acted on a complaint filed by Rosemarie Linatok who claimed that Kashyap used her identity in a marriage certificate he attached in his application for a five-year temporary resident's visa.

Kashyap's application was approved in 2009, but the Bureau of Immigration Board of Commissioners cancelled his visa on September 8 after Linatok filed a complaint saying that his documents were falsified.
