Islamabad: A Turkish ship carrying a rental power plant with a 232 megawatt generation capacity arrived at Karachi yesterday under a contract to produce electric power for Pakistan's national grid system.
Acute shortage
The plant, which is expected to start operation in a couple of weeks, will help to alleviate the acute power shortage in Pakistan's largest city and its industrial and financial hubs.
Turkish firm Karkey Karadeniz Electrik Uretim AS has been awarded a contract for the establishment and operation of ship-mounted rental power plants on the Karachi coastline.
