Women and men who did not adhere to curfew rules were made to hold their ears
Odd and unusual punishments don’t have to be painful, as the police in India’s city of Nagpur just proved.
When the authorities patrolling the streets found violators of a curfew imposed to curb the spread of the new coronavirus, COVID-19, they made them stand in a semi-circle.
Then, these rule-flouting men and women were made to do squats while holding their ears. A video of the exercise has made it online, with Twitter users praising the Maharashtra police’s quick actions.
On Sunday, a nationwide curfew called 'janata curfew' was held across India, where the country's prime minister, Narendra Modi, called for a lockdown from 7am to 9pm.
