Dubai: If you’re heading outdoors over the next two days, it’s best to keep a handkerchief, face mask and an umbrella in hand as the country will be hazy and dusty with chances of some scattered rain.

The National Centre of Meteorology said the UAE’s on Wednesday will be partly cloudy, hazy and dusty at times due to Northwesterly wind with speeds of 25km/h to 35km/h, with gusts of 50km/h. Similar conditions are expected on Thursday.

Motorists are advised to drive carefully and keep a safe distance between cars when visibility is poor.

Portions of UAE’s skyline disappeared in the haze and dust on Tuesday morning. Visibility dropped to 2,000 metres due to wind-swept dust.

In some areas with open space in Sharjah, buildings could not be seen from a distance of 100 metres, a motorist said.

Scattered showers were recorded in Abu Dhabi Corniche, Kalba Road, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Abu Dhabi International Airport, Al Maktoum International Airport, and Al Ain Airport on Tuesday.

The amount of clouds is expected to increase on Wednesday that could bring some rain over internal and eastern areas in the morning.

The mercury will drop in most of the country, especially over the western areas, by six degree Celsius from Tuesday until Thursday. A decrease in temperatures by 2C to 4C will also be noted in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Fujairah, and Al Ain.

Dubai’s maximum temperature on Tuesday, for example, at 36C will become 32C on Wednesday and will further drop to 30C on Thursday.

The Arabian Gulf will be rough to very rough with waves reaching 5 feet to 7 feet in height on Wednesday, and rough on Thursday.

The Oman Sea will be moderate on Wednesday morning, becoming rough by afternoon and moderate by Thursday night.
