UAE nationals do not need a visa to travel to South Korea, said Mohammed Abdul Raheem Abdul Jalil, Director of Consulate Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Abdul Jalil said that he received an official memo from South Korean Ambassador San Yung Kang confirming this.

UAE nationals can enter the country for 30 days by getting a visa on arrival. This will take effect from November 1.

The move was taken by the South Korean government in reply to the UAE's request, which had been submitted with the aim of having reciprocal visa policies.

The UAE had earlier released a list of 34 nations whose citizens do not need a visa to enter the country.

South Korea was one of these countries, and, therefore, it was officially asked by the UAE to reciprocate, said Abdul Jalil.

The move was taken by the UAE in March, allowing Korean nationals to enter the country.

The other countries had also been asked to allow UAE nationals to enter without visas, but had as yet not responded, said Abdul Jalil.

UAE nationals do not need a visa to enter Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, New Zealand, Malaysia and Thailand.
