Customs officials of the UAE met in Abu Dhabi yesterday to discuss links with the World Trade Organisation and a UAE request for the postponement of a customs assessment agreement with the Geneva-based group.

It was the second meeting of the UAE Customs Assessment Committee, which was established by the UAE Customs Council to follow up agreements with the WTO.

The Committee which met at the Abu Dhabi customs department discussed a 'working paper' by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce regarding the reasons for the country's request to postpone the customs assessment agreement with the organisation, said ALi Munif Al Jabiri, director of the department's customs affairs.
