Sharjah: Sharjah’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that it will be carrying out a comprehensive study on the city’s roads and movement patterns for the next six months with the aim of improving traffic flow.

The study will examine surveillance cameras and radars at traffic signals, pedestrian crossings and intersections.

Engineer Yumnah Al Za’abi, from the Traffic Engineering Department at RTA, said that the study will be carried out by foreign experts from the consultant company WS Atkins who will conduct a survey covering all traffic elements of Sharjah roads.

Yumnah added that depending on the data gathered from the surveys, the authority will start the process of developing the different traffic elements on the road with the aim of reducing traffic jams and accidents.
