Al Ain: The Hili Fun City, one of the Gulf's largest amusement parks, will reopen with new attractions on the first day of Eid Al Fitr.

The park will officially reopen under a new management — the Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC). The company has announced that it has been appointed as the park's operator.

Hili Fun City was undergoing extensive renovation since August 2009 when the TDIC was appointed to execute the two-phase redevelopment of the park into a major family attraction. "TDIC's movement from just a developer to operator of the park coincides with the completion of phase one," said the announcement.

The park now has the redeveloped western side with the addition of new rides and landscaping. During phase one of the redevelopment, the TDIC renovated old facilities and launched seven new attractions.

Phase two will redevelop the eastern side. The first stage of development for phase two — the Master Plan and Concept Design stage — will officially commence on September 14.

In addition to the introduction of exciting new rides, this phase will include the renovation of the Olympic-size ice rink.

Mubarak Al Muhairi, managing director of TDIC, said the development of tourism assets in the Eastern Region of Abu Dhabi emirate is a key focus of Abu Dhabi's 2030 Vision. "Hili Fun City is set to be one of the major tourism attractions rebuilt in Al Ain in the next three years," he said.

The park is expected to attract more than 10,000 visitors a day when it reopens. Visitors will be thrilled by the addition of new rides for this year, including Twister Mountain, Sinbad's Farm, and 3D Action Cinema, new landscaping and improved parking and entrance facilities, he said.

Al Muhairi said: "TDIC is aiming to developing Hili Fun City into a premier family theme park."
