Dubai: As part of its community-oriented initiatives, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) kicked off the Charity Bus initiative for the third consecutive year by providing a bus laden with rations comprising the most essential food supplies to be delivered to needy families in Dubai and people waiting in bus stations during the month of Ramadan.
Kawthar Kazim, Deputy CEO of the administration support services sector, stressed the RTA’s keenness on launching charity initiatives to include all needy categories by offering them food supplies during the month of Ramadan. She added that the authority shoulders a community responsibility which enhances its role which goes further than providing public transport alone.
She also pointed out that the Charity Bus initiative includes a number of activities such as providing food for needy families. The food packages, she added, include basic staples such as sugar, rice, flour, milk, juices, dates, canned foods, and oil.
The packages also include house cleaning products.
Kawthar also said that a mass iftar will be organised for the duration of a week targeting people at bus stations.
She also clarified that these community charity campaigns are a part of RTA’s vision and its leadership to launch initiatives and campaigns which answer the needs of the community as well as the Authority’s basic role in opening up communication channels with all community bodies which will motivate employees to help others.
