Dubai/Abu Dhabi: Beaches were overflowing, parks were full to bursting and everyone was wearing big smiles - the second day of Eid Al Fitr was a fun day across the UAE.
Families and bachelors were out in force to enjoy the near-perfect weather which meteorologists described as ideal for going outside.
Among the most popular spots for people making use of their time off work was Safa Park in Dubai, where the lake was busy with people gliding across in tiny boats. Groups of Pathans provided entertainment for themselves and the other park-goers when they performed traditional dances.
The public beach in Jumeirah also acted like a magnet for Dubai residents, with many families enjoying the sunshine and taking a dip in the pleasant waters.
Among those out and about in Dubai yesterday was Indian Raju Khanna, a second-year management student. He was taking pictures of some of Dubai's top attractions, including the Burj Al Arab hotel. "My four friends and I are going round the UAE taking pictures. I want to make a photo album and send pictures to my family and friends," he told Gulf News.
Fellow Indian Shalini Mathew, a 26-year-old from Bangalore who moved to Dubai four months ago, said she was very much enjoying her first Eid in the UAE.
The maximum temperature in Dubai yesterday was 37C and forecasters said their comfort index during the middle of the day reached a value of one, which is classed as "very comfortable".
Lucy Moore, 38, a British housewife, who was out with her daughters Georgina, five, and Alexandra, three, said: "It's really lovely weather and it's great to see so many people enjoying the day."
In Abu Dhabi it was a similar story, with young and old relaxing and playing games in the warm air.
Many city residents went to the corniche and relaxed on the benches and grass areas beside the clear blue waters.
The northern and eastern emirates attracted many residents who have gone camping to avoid the urban hustle and bustle.
