DUBAI The list of Dubai’s record-breaking towers, it seems, is about to get a new addition.

On April 29, the city of superlatives is set to break the Guinness World Record for hosting the tallest cupcake tower.

An initiative of Efour Events and its partners, the cupcake tower or Burj Kabkyk will make its mouthwatering statement at the Sun Mosaic in Wafi Mall with as many as 8,000 cupcakes stacked up in an eight metre tower. The current record, set in China in 2013, stands at six metres.

The cupcakes are being specially made by Sugaholic Bakeshop and Ribbons & Balloons. The completed tower will resemble the UAE national flag as the buttercream frosting colours on the vanilla cupcakes will be in its four colours.

Charity

Vishal D. Hiranandani of Sugaholic said, “We will be attempting to break the world record for the tallest cupcake tower both in terms of height and number of cupcakes. Apart from breaking the current world record, we will be attempting to raise money for charity under our Sugaholic4Cause Programme that has been running for five years. Events like these help create awareness and get people together for diverse causes.”

The event officially kicks off at 5pm with the measuring process scheduled at 7pm. The icing on the cake is that the cupcakes will be distributed free of cost to the public after the event.

Layla Al Harmoudi, head of Wafi central marketing mepartment, said, “We are delighted to collaborate with Efour Events, Sugaholic and Ribbons & Balloons for this one-of-a-kind project. We aim to be part of Guinness World Records this time and for Wafi to be recognised as one of the most wonderful destinations worldwide. We will continue to organise interesting and engaging events like this.” The event will also host sponsor stalls providing goodies to visitors.

Among them are Zomato and Barakat. Live performances have also been planned to make it a fun-filled evening.
