Dubai: A man on the run was arrested in Oman for his alleged involvement in a multimillion-dirham robbery from an international commodities company in Dubai.

Earlier Gulf News reported on the seven suspects who were arrested, including the alleged mastermind behind the operation.

The case was tackled by a team of recent graduates of the criminal investigation diploma course conducted by Dubai Police as a test of their skills, said Brigadier Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation at Dubai Police.

The investigative team, with the cooperation of the Omani police, interrogated the Asian suspect who apparently repeatedly misled the team on the whereabouts of the remaining stolen items. According to Lieutenant Colonel Ahmad Humaid Al Merri, Director of the Criminal Investigation Division of Dubai Police, the team traced additional suspects involved in storing the items. "We were able to retrieve the entire [number of] stolen items. We initially thought the remaining items were with the fugitive in Oman," he said.
